Nanã Buruku is the oldest of the water entities. She represents light rainfall and its consequent mixing with Earth: mud, which is the original protomatter. Mud contains in its elements the primordial signs of her essence: the principle, middle and end of life and its subsequent rebirth. She is an ancient deity, shrouded in secrets whose cult dates back to ancient times and covers a wide geographical area. The artist Edsoleda carefully observes the scenarios and environments described by the ethnologist Pierre Verger, recreating them in his poetic and playful language. The saga of Nanã, her battles and vicissitudes, narrates the representations of a people and their faith.
