Descriptions of the cities in which I ran, literature, gastronomy, funny stories that happened during competitions, historical facts and technical details of the evolution of athletics are the themes of this book. I believe that traveling to run already involves a huge range of interests. But it is clear that, far beyond organizing marathons, cities offer a diversity of situations that interest the most varied desires, expectations and curiosities.
I chose to report races in the cities that gave me the most pleasure, in no chronological order. For this reason, some already well-known and talked about marathons were left out, although participation in them is valuable for anyone. Running through the streets and avenues of these pleasant cities and getting to know them simultaneously is an immense pleasure in itself. It forms the best state of mind for a marathon runner. Only in this way can we not only corroborate, but also enrich the maxim of Baron de Coubertin, creator of the Modern Olympic Games: “The important thing is not to win, it is to participate”.
