Renowned German architect, doctor in structural efficiency and retired professor at the University of Kassel, Germany, where he coordinated the Experimental Construction Laboratory since 1974. He was one of the driving forces and inspirers of the bioconstruction movement in Latin America.

He has carried out more than 50 research and development projects in the area of ​​ecological constructions, low-cost housing, constructions with earth, straw bales, bamboo and green roofs.

The Earth Construction Manual book has been published in 12 languages, including Russian, Japanese and Arabic, in a total of 15 countries. His manual "Building with Straw" has been published in 8 languages. He has written other books on the topics of bamboo construction, green roofs and vertical gardens.
