Solisluna participates, with various activities, in the seventh edition of the Pelourinho International Literary Festival (Flipelô), which takes place from August 9th to 13th, in Salvador . This year, the honoree is Mãe Stella de Oxóssi (1925-2018), author of 'A Ialorixá e o Pajé' , released by Solisluna in 2018.
The book, illustrated by Enéas Guerra, recounts the period when the ialorixá of Ilê Axé Opô Afonjá, in Salvador, was a young nurse. A story about his meeting with the healer, the exchange of knowledge about plants, medicinal herbs, roots, seeds, leaves and rituals between a person born in Afro-Brazilian culture and another in indigenous culture.
During the event, our authors will be present at debate tables and book launches. On August 10th (Thursday), at 6pm, Edsoleda Santos presents 'Oxóssi' to the public , written and illustrated by her. In the work, the reader gets to know the strength and beauty of this Orixá who lives in the forest with his Ofá (bow and arrow). Smart and quick, Oxóssi becomes a skilled hunter, an important performance in fulfilling his role as provider of homes.
On August 12th (Saturday), Sara Bertrand will hold the mini-course 'Notebook' for young people . The event takes place in the Myriam Fraga Room, at Fundação Casa de Jorge Amado, from 10am to 1pm. It is necessary to register in advance on the Flipelô website.
The Chilean writer also participates in the panel 'Writing Mothers - Motherhood and Resistance' , in conversation with Lilia Gramacho, on August 13 (Sunday), 11am, at the Eugênio Teixeira Leal Museum. The topic of debate is also the title of her next work, which Sara defines as a book about mothers, daughters, sons, about mothers' relationships with them, and with their own mothers and grandmothers. “That is, with the entire chain of motherhood that occurs before a woman becomes a mother. That’s the starting point, for the rest, you’ll have to go to the lecture at Flipelô”, he jokes.
The launch of 'Roma Negra', by Esteban Vivaldi, will be on the same day (13), at 4pm. During the table 'Black Rome - A City Illustrated in Comics' , the author talks to journalist Gutemberg Cruz, one of the greatest comic book experts in Bahia. The graphic novel published by Solisluna marks Vivaldi's debut in the world of literature.
The Italian-Chilean visual artist has lived in Salvador since 2014. “When I arrived here, I wanted to know the Historic Center, the Lower City, the alleys, the neighborhoods and the Suburbs. It was a completely new world that kept revealing itself. All of this began to take shape and fuel conjectures that became this book”, he says.

Also during Flipelô, all titles from the Solisluna catalog will be found in the Espaço das Editoras Baianas, at the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia (Famed). There is also programming with the authors on site.
On August 10th (Thursday), at 5pm, the table 'Ancestry, Wisdom and Religiosity' will be held . Representing the publisher will be Edsoleda Santos and Enéas Guerra, illustrator of 'A Ialorixá e o Pajé' .
Author of 'Transbordos' , Luiz Afonso Costa participates in the debate 'A Look at Cities' , on August 12th (Saturday), at 3pm. On the same day, at 7pm, Iêda Marques (from the book 'Membranceiras, Imaginário e Realidade' ) talks to the public about the theme ' Portraits and Looks' .
