2023 is a year of great joy for Solisluna . In addition to the publisher's three decades, we are honored to celebrate the 50-year career of visual artist Enéas Guerra.
Among his numerous works, the art editions of works by the iconic ethnologist and photographer Pierre Verger (1902-1996) stand out, being co-author of two books on legends of the African gods with the master Fatumbi: Oxóssi o Caçador and Lendas dos Orixás , both published in 1981.
“Anyone who didn’t live through the era of artisanal graphic production has no idea how much work it took to produce a book, especially when it included images, photography, illustrations and engravings”
Born in 1951, in Botucatu, in the interior of São Paulo, the founding partner of Solisluna has lived in Bahia since 1973.
Graduated from the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM-SP), his graphic projects can be found in publications published in Brazil and abroad. Enéas is the author of the books Vaporzinho , Que Bicho Doido! and A União faz a colcha , both published by Solisluna.
In our debut edition, we remember the book Orixás , in which Enéas Guerra edited the art of the first edition and also of the current edition, with the text 'Um Design para Verger', written by him. "The first edition of Orixás was made with the composition of the text in linotype, which, in a simple definition, was a machine with a keyboard, whose raw material was molten lead cast in a matrix for printing on paper", he recalls.
