Solisluna will, once again, be one of the Brazilian representatives at the Bologna Children's and Youth Book Fair , the largest event in the world dedicated to the segment, which takes place from March 6th (Monday) to March 9th (Thursday), in Italy. In this edition, the literary fair celebrates six decades and pays tribute to one of the protagonists of 20th century Italian literature, Italo Calvino, in the centenary year of his birth.
There will be more than 1400 exhibitors from 90 countries and 325 events on the schedule, bringing together publishers, literary agents, librarians, authors and illustrators from all over the world.
Solisluna's partner, Instituto Emília, an organization in São Paulo that encourages reading, literature, books and the training of readers, participates for the first time. Its stand has a collective made up of eleven Brazilian publishers who stand out for the quality and diversity of their productions. In addition to Solisluna, they are: Aletria, Barbatana, Caixote, Jujuba, Mazza, Miguilim, Peirópolis, Piu, Selo Emília and WMF.
Solisluna's books will also be at the Brazilian Publishers stand, a program of the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) that promotes Brazilian editorial content abroad, and to which the publisher has been a member since 2013.
"The objective is to present our production to children and young people from all over the world, in this year in which Solisluna celebrates three decades. We also intend to establish connections and partnerships with editors, illustrators and professionals in the literary market from different regions, who share publisher's purposes, to present quality literature", says Kin Guerra, editor and responsible for international rights at Solisluna. He will be present at the Bologna Fair.
This year's edition hosts meetings on some of the most current issues regarding the future and present of global publishing: censorship in children's books, the question of the need to edit the work of deceased authors and the new role of artificial intelligence.
