Writer of children's books, illustrator and researcher in children's literature and film history. Dedicated to creating illustrated books in partnership with illustrators from different countries. His books have been translated into English, Portuguese, Catalan, Chinese, Turkish, Japanese, Korean and Swedish. He won the awards A La Orilla del Viento (2007), with the book Camino a casa (On the way home), in the company of Rafael Yockteng; the Castillo Spanish-American Children's Novel Award (2019), with Al principio viajábamos solas (In the beginning we traveled alone); the Antonio García Cubas award for Best Mexican Book for Children (2020); and was nominated for the Kirkus Award, in the United States, in 2019, for Walk with me (English version of Camino a casa). Born in Bogotá and lives in Mexico City.
